Hopi Ear Candling
The historical roots of this treatment can be found amongst the native North and South American Indians. The ear candles are made using pure beeswax, honey extract and herbs. They have a purely physical function. A light suction action (the chimney effect) and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the earcandle, generating a massage like effect on the eardrum. This helps to balance the pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses.
It is soothing and helpful for earache and headache, ear noise, stress and nervousness. It may also cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell even if the nose was blocked before treatment.
A full medical case history will be taken before the treatment begins. The treatment is carried out with the client lying down on their side, and it is not necessary to remove clothing. The session can end with a light facial massage which includes the use of acupressure points to assist in the clearing of the sinuses. If you wish the therapist to include this then please attend without makeup as the therapist will need to apply light oil to the face.
